Free-cutting steels are the type of steels made by alloying with additional free-cutting elements such as sulfur, lead, bismuth, phosphorus, selenium, and tellurium and its addition can ensure that the chips are easily dispersed during the processing, thereby reducing the machining force, and extending the tool life and surface finish of the processed parts, making it very suitable for applications where the speed of machining and surface finish of the machined component is the prime requirement.
